Uplighting

You’ve probably seen Uplighting before, but perhaps didn’t know how it can be used to transform your event. It can make a major impact. It can be called “ambient” lighting or “decorative lighting”. When done properly, it can transform a ballroom atmosphere.

MJA Entertainment has taken the time to make sure we utilize the right type of fixtures. Powerful, professional Up Light fixtures that can even be used with brightly lit ballrooms during dinner, and still make a big impact. They emit no heat, can provide programs for stand alone use, or can be controlled from a separate location. We can “wash” a wall, “soften” colors on a wall, narrow the “beam”, or even “tighten” further for a “streaking” of the wall. We can use them behind the head table to match the bridal colors for a colorful atmosphere, as shown here, or on a larger scale for entire ballrooms, fashion shows, and even live bands. They will not only light up the wall, but provide a colorful “glow” to the entire room putting the focus where you want it. Other areas of the room, such as pillars, tray ceilings, trees, etc… can be done, if so desired. Our fixtures provide rich, saturated colors & even pastels.

 Uplighting has become a “big” item in the wedding market. There are all types of fixtures, from a lot of different manufacturers that have not yet been proven to work in all situations and there are all types of “wedding vendors” that want to “rent” out Up Lighting.

 If you are interested in Up Lighting for your event, think about the following…

• 1) Do they own the fixtures, or rent them from someone else?
• 2) Can I see pictures from events you have done, not just what it is suppose to look like?
• 3) Do the lights plug in the wall, or are they battery powered?
• 4) Can I see the colors in a bright room, or does it have to be absolutely dark?
• 5) Do you know lighting design, or is it just an “add on” to your service?

 Less powerful units can emit “weak” colors and only “wash” the wall 5-6 feet from the ground, instead of all the way to the ceiling. These type of fixtures are simply not seen in a brightly lit room. Others are really just “toys”… to do it right, it needs to be a “professional fixture” and a “theatrical lighting designer”.

 There are also services that “rent” the fixtures when they need them – – without knowing how to use them properly to get the biggest “bang” out of the effect for your dollars. All they do is set them up, and turn them on. Lacking the knowledge to use them.

We own all our fixtures in house, we know how to apply them, and we do not charge per light! In additions to wedding events, we have done many fashion shows and live bands.
